Robin mcallistar - counselor

Robin is a lifelong Alaskan with decades of experience as an integrated mental health and substance use counselor. She supports people navigating trauma, recovery, relationships, grief, anxiety, and major life transitions. She is especially drawn to working with people who have experienced difficult things and want more out of life than simply learning to live with what happened. Robin believes healing can involve reconnecting with yourself, your relationships, and the parts of life that bring meaning, purpose, and joy.

Robin brings warmth, curiosity, compassion, humor, and genuine respect to the counseling relationship. She believes thoughts, feelings, and behaviors make sense when understood in context. Rather than asking, “What’s wrong with you?” she seeks to understand what happened, how you adapted, what helped you survive, and what you need now.

Her approach is trauma-informed, strengths-based, relational, and integrative, drawing from family systems, internal parts  work, mindfulness, somatic and bottom-up therapies, and layers of specialized training in Brainspotting. Her experience includes supporting individuals and families affected by substance use, recovery, mental health concerns, and complex trauma. As a multigenerational Alaskan, Robin also brings a deep understanding of the people, communities, landscapes, and unique experiences that shape life in Alaska.

Robin hopes clients discover that healing is not about becoming someone else, but about becoming more fully yourself and building a life you genuinely want to inhabit.

Outside of work, Robin enjoys time with family, gardening, beach walking, singing, cooking, cold dipping, exploring Alaska, and dreaming up the next adventure. If you are ready to explore support, she invites you to connect and begin a conversation about how counseling might help.
